THEATRICAL PAINTINGS

This group of paintings were placed in the Fayetteville Tech Auditorium during the Summer of 2007. There are eight completed paintings, but more will follow. They are loosley based on plays that have run at Fay Tech. Some are fairly standard, while others a pure interpretation on my part.

SCENERY/BACKDROPS

Here are some examples of the backdrops and scenery I have done for the Play Productions at Fayetteville Tech. As the Chairman of Fine Arts, I found myself suddenly involved with theatre(I am in charge of Visual Art, Theatre and Music). It has been very enlightening and exciting to be part of this. When I was a young artist, I did many things including murals to pay bills. That experience has paid off for me now!

PICNIC
This is four 8' X 3' canvas-over-frame panels. The play takes place in the Mid-West, so Kansas was the visual. The images don't really line up, but they did on stage.

The Real Inspector Hound
For this play, we built some really cool fake french doors. Behind were these three 8' X 3' canvas-overframe panels. It really looked like a courtyard garden!

PLAZA SUITE
Here is a view of NYC from Central Park Painted on two 8'X 4' luan panels. The play does take place in a Hotel overlooking Central Park. This was placed behind a false window. The coolest thing was that the Director, Dennis Johnson, and the Assistant Director, John Doerner, rigged some PVC over the top and a well underneath, so water would run through and it really looked like it was raining. You really only saw the top two-thirds of the painting on stage.
