The Sick Leading the Sick 2000 acrylic on paper 12" X 8" This is my version of the parable of the blind leading the blind. The best painting of that title is by Pieter Brueghel the Elder. I guess for me the concept is best portrayed through the expression of body fluids. There is a subtle, yet significant difference. In the blind analogy there is insinuation that the followers cannot or choose not to see. In my version one throws up. The next one tries to help, but sees and smells and also throws up. This makes the next one sick and so on. They follow by reaction, not by any fault or default of their own. |
