He's just pickin' 1998 acrylic on paper 16" X 12" I had an urge to paint a pine forest. It kinda looked like a park, so I put some people having a picnic in there. Then I was thinking about picnics and childs games and I remembered lawn darts. I'm sure most of you know what those were. They are banned now, but back in the old days they were everywhere. Basically, they were made of metal. A long sharp projectile that had fins and was weighted to inevitably come down with the sharp point. The idea was to, in a sort of horse shoe way, toss the darts so they would land in a hoola loop kind of thing. Always a good idea to give a child a sharp, weighted object to throw up in the air. That, of course, is why they were banned. I think they have a new version with a weighted ball at the end, so the best you can do is get a knot on your head. So, I was wondering how many kids took one in the head. This kid took one in the side of the head. The adults are just waiting for him to get up. You know, kids are resilient. In the world many people just watch and wont help. I put myself in there to see how long it would take. No one has helped that kid to this day! |
